Identity Theft

I’ve not kept up with the whole Equifax security breach that occurred most recently, however, it has been concerning to me that someone could have access to my information and that they might wish to use said information to steal my identity.  I’ve heard it can be a nightmare to clean it up.   I did a little research to determine how to check.   Here is a link to a website for Equifax:

PaddleFest: Summer Fun 2017

Always on Memorial Weekend, PaddleFest is Buena Vista’s kickoff for summer fun and adventure.  Paddlers, both professional and amateur, descend upon Buena Vista, Colorado, from all over the region to hone their skills or to just be a part of this exciting river party.

This event includes kayak and stand up paddleboard (SUP) workshops, demos, races, and river competitions.  PaddleFest is an interactive, hands-on experience for participants to learn and share.  This is also an exciting event for the spectators.  There are also multiple events hosted in town, including a flat-water demonstration at Town Lake, a playpark on the Arkansas River, vendors in the South Main Town Square, and a concert.  PaddleFest is committed to providing opportunities for children to learn new skills and experience outdoor water sports in a safe and fun environment.

Here is my take on behalf of Pinon Real Estate Group – BV on Buena Vista, which only offers a glimpse of all it has to offer:

Buena Vista, Colorado is situated in the Upper Arkansas Valley with magnificent views of the Collegiate Peaks Range. We sit at the base of Mt. Princeton, Mt. Columbia and Mt. Yale, all mountains reaching a summit of 14,000 feet above sea level. To the east flows the renowned Arkansas River making the area a mecca for river enthusiasts.

Our town offers a very active lifestyle with unlimited outdoor recreation activities. We also have one of the most breathtaking mountain golf courses and eminent hot springs in Colorado. This area is a premier destination choice for whitewater rafting, hiking and snowmobiling. Our locals enjoy these activities year round and want to share their bounty with you. Buena Vista also offers several fine restaurants, micro-breweries, multiple coffee and tea shops and quaint retail boutiques.

You haven’t experienced an old-fashioned small-town Fourth of July celebration until you witness our hour-long parade, sample pancakes in the park and shop at the local vendor booths next to Town Lake. Buena Vista is the host of many fun events including the Mountain Mania Car Show, Collegiate Peaks Rodeo, King Boletus Mushroom Festival, Christmas Opening, Applefest at the historic Turner Farm, Gold Rush Days and Paddlefest. A calendar of all these events and more can be found at http://www.BuenaVistaColorado.org.

During your stay, don’t miss a visit to one of our nearby ghost towns and allow your imagination to take you back to an earlier era. Though the trains no longer run through Buena Vista, our history lives on. The Buena Vista Heritage Museum and the Buena Vista Depot Transportation Museum are open to the public to discover the local Colorado history that has been preserved.

Design of an Iconic Landmark

DSC_4939 copy threshold wmk

I have served on the Board of Directors for BV Heritage for close to 5 years.  We have been talking for some time about redesigning our logo in conjunction with rebranding.  It’s a big challenge to make a whole board happy, as well as the membership, especially when there are no funds earmarked for this endeavor.  I have been paying attention to the chatter in this regard, and it seems that the majority would like to see the cupula from the old courthouse, which is now BV Hertiage Museum, used.  I shot this picture the other day from this particular angle specifically to get the weather vane with the tin deer facing the front, as well as the W & E directions.  I’m sure we’ll use this image, but what I’m not sure of is, how to incorporate it into a beautiful vintage appeal logo.  It’s something that will most likely evolve with much trial and error to say what we want/need it to say.  Watch for updates in the coming month to see if I am up to the challenge.  I would love feedback from those who are interested.
